We went bouldering couple of days ago to the local indoor gym. The owner talked us into take part to the competition next day. So After 3 months of not climbing at all, we ex-tempore represented Finland in a mexican boulder contest.
The competition was on-sight, so we were not allowed to see the routes before climbing. There were different categories for juniors, beginners, intermediates and advanced climbers. We went to the advanced, of course.
The routes were tough, overhanging problems. It took only couple of tries to loose most of the skin from our baby soft surfer fingers. Soon we found out that surfing is not the best way to get boulder-fit.
Even though we didn't make it to the finals we had lot of fun with nice mexican climbers. Some of the climbers were really good and apparently there is a lively climbing scene in Mexico. Next week we are going to go climbing with some of the guys. The problem here is the heat. If you want to climb outdoors, you have to go early in the morning or late in the evening.
