Cartagena and Playa Blanca

Cartagena is very beautiful colonial city with small alleys and hidden squares. Sadly the old barrio is very touristic with its emerald shops and fancy restaurants. It's so overpriced that no ordinary people could eat in it's restaurants. The place felt more like a scenery made for rich tourists and celebrities. The mercado was more truthful about the living. Lots of people, hassle, stalls, shops and also poverty.
At the hostel we spent quite a lot of time, thanks to its friendly staff and air-conditioned dorm. The weather in the city is humid and hot, almost too hot to bear on some days. The sea brings a bit of breeze but still it was uncomfortable. After visiting perfect beaches around central america, taking a dip in front of the big city didn't fascinate too much.

The place was full of beautiful balconies and flowering wines.

Rainy afternoon. In the evenings this place was crowded with salsa and beer lovers.

Nice VW Variant for the collection

With Michelle from Switzerland and Teemu from Paukkaja we headed to Playa Blanca to have some rest from the hectic city life.

Crossing the Pasacaballos. The flatboat was moved around by a canoe with a small motor.

Playa Blanca, white sand, turquoise sea and too many people. We managed to find a peaceful place at Rodrigos.

On the first night Rodrigo took us to his friends birthday party and we danced...

...and so danced the wife of the hero of the day.

Some fresh lobsters for a dinner, yum!

Heading back to Cartagena.

One night we were supposed to go out for rumba, but it rained like hell and the whole city was flooded up to knees.

Now we now why the hostel was called Casa Venecia. Surprisingly we didn't see any boats around.
